Mission Statement

The National MS Society is committed to building a movement by and for people with MS that will move us closer to a world free of this disease.

Description

The New York City Chapter serves the thousands of New Yorkers living with MS and their families by providing comprehensive support services and educational programs and by funding a national research initiative seeking the cause, treatments and cure for this chronic neurological disease.

The chapter provides outstanding, comprehensive programs and support services designed to help people with MS and their families better cope with the consequences of this complex illness. Whether providing the latest research and referrals, helping people obtain or keep jobs, providing comprehensive medical care or running rehabilitation and counseling programs, the goal of the chapter's support system is to empower people with MS and their loved ones so that they can better control their lives and wellness.

Since it was founded in 1946, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has spent more for MS research than any non-governmental agency in the world. The Society invests more than $34 million annually to fuel the efforts of hundreds of researchers throughout the U.S. and abroad. That investment is paying off in significant advances toward finding improved treatments, as well as better diagnoses, rehabilitation and symptom therapy.

Sending you prayers, I was diagnosed in 2010 and seemed to go down hill quickly. In six years I could no longer work and had real problems with balance and joint pain. Brain fog was really bad sometimes. I took rebif and had a lot of problems and had to quit. I have been on techfadera (not spelled right) for a few years and have several side effects. I felt lost and decided to quit my meds due to side effects. Our care provider introduced me to Ayurvedic treatment. I had a total decline of all symptoms including vision problems, numbness and others. Sometimes, i totally forget i ever had MS. Visit Natural Herbs Centre web-site naturalherbscentre. com. I am very pleased with this treatment. I eat well, sleep well and exercise regularly. God bless all MS Warriors

After an MRI i was diagnosed of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. After years on medications, symptoms worsened with tremors on my right hand, numbness and tingling, muscle weakness and loss of speech. Fortunately last year, i learnt about Health Herbs Clinic and their Multiple Sclerosis alternative treatment ( ww w. healthherbsclinic. com ), the Multiple Sclerosis treatment made a great difference, most of my symptoms including tremors, weakness and others gradually disappeared. I improved greatly over the 6 months treatment, its been a years since the treatment, i have no symptoms. I have a very good quality of life and a supportive family!

Nobody in my family had MS, nor my grandparents. Last year a cousin younger than me had MS, she is 40. I have primary progressive MS. I do not walk for the last 18 years, I was born in 1962. I have had 6 strokes and 1 heart attack. The Rebif (beta-1a) did very little to help me. The medical team did even less. After roughly five unending years of trauma in the family my MS developed into progressive. There have been many changes in the last 3 to 4 years. Many falls, many fractured bones, and three moves all in five years. I have gone downhill. Considerably. We tried every shot available but nothing was working. There has been little if any progress in finding a reliable treatment for Multiple Sclerosis, I started on MS Herbal Treatment from Kycuyu Health Clinic, the herbal treatment immensely helped my Multiple Sclerosis condition, i had huge improvements. Go to kycuyuhealthclinic. com. My life is back. I Adhere anyone reading this to try natural approach.

The Staff from MS were warm. Other volunteers were nice and fun to work with. I not only helped on a great course, but also had meaningful conversations. Overall, it was a valuable and rewarding experience. I would like to do it again!

I did some illustrations for a poetry binder this organisation was putting together. I enjoyed working with them, and i'm very proud that i could be a part of something special. They were even kind enough to send me a copy of the finished binder. Communication between myself and this organisation was excellent and would definitely consider helping out again in the future. They do excellent work and are wonderful friendly people. More people should do something to help this organisation.

This is a great organization with great people. Their events are professionally run, relaxed atmosphere even when there is a lot going on and they will treat you with respect.

Friendly environment, Helpful and Knowledgeable staff. This is probably the best organized, most efficient non-profit I've seen! Multiple Sclerosis is a horrible disease which not just affects a person physically, but also devastates both the person and their loved ones tremendously. Staffs and volunteers at the National MS Society really do work diligently to fight it, and their effort do show, I would recommend anyone to join in the fight with such a great big team. :)
