Mission Statement

Covenant House California (CHC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to reach out to at-risk homeless youth living on the streets and offer them hope and opportunities to turn their lives around. We help abused or neglected youth who have nowhere else to go. A large number have been thrown out of their homes while others have aged out or left the foster care system with no family, no support system, and no one to turn to.

Description

In the past several years, homeless and at-risk youth some as young as 13 years of age have turned to the one place in Oakland where they know they'll find comfort, a helping hand, and the opportunity to improve their lives. That place is Covenant House California-Oakland. CHC-O has provided hope to youth overcoming the pain of feeling alone and abandoned, forgotten by those who should care about them, but can't or won't. The services we provide include street outreach, counseling, and case management, employment and educational assistance, healthcare, psychological counseling and psychiatric care, life skills development, recreation, and community service projects. CHC-O is dedicated to working with at-risk youth by assessing their crisis situations, developing crisis resolution plans, and providing them with the support and services they need to resolve their problems, and ultimately to maintain themselves in stable living environments.
