It is a well organized volunteer opportunity. The staff is very supportive. Some seniors need just a little company and help to stay in their homes and we can provide that. There is satisfaction in helping them and giving them a feeling of being a person worthy of notice.

I retired nearly three years ago after years of saying that I would do more for people if I had the time. Now I have the time. The Senior Companion Program lets a volunteer use the things learned from life experiences to help others who may be facing limits on their self sufficiency. These meetings are generally simple shopping, visiting, or outings sessions with a senior's needs in mind. Nothing could be simpler, living with a purpose is the best living possible and that is what we want out of these retirement years.
