Share your experience as a career coach to help someone take actions to transform their life. Use guidelines on our website worknlearn.us for 30 Actions-to-Change-Your-Life (tm) . The actions can be taken by anyone, anywhere, any time to start transforming their life. The actions strengthen both Biblical values and career skills which reinforce each other. Provide 1-to-1 help for the specific actions you choose to support. There are multiple ways to volunteer. Introduce someone struggling with their life or career, whom you would like to help, to the free guidelines for Actions on the website. Suggest the Actions that will be most beneficial to them. Set a regular schedule to follow up and be available to assist them. Choose the Actions that you would like to help other people accomplish. Let us know which Actions you choose. If someone reaches out to us and needs help with the Actions that are your strength (example: resumes, mock interview), there may be an opportunity to connect you with them. Help us improve the guidelines to Actions. Propose improvements to specific Action Pages on worknlearn.us. We’re all volunteers. Be a Christian mentor to someone you would like to help with their life, career or relationships. Encourage and partner with someone in steps that will transform his or her life. Receive suggestions how to do this at the website worknlearn.us. It has guidelines to 30 Actions to Change Your Life. The Actions strengthen Biblical Values and Career Skills which reinforce each other. They address the same four abilities that developed when "... Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." Luke 2:52 Assist and encourage your friend to take these Actions. Provide support, counsel and correction to your friend. Arrange regular one-on-one assistance, which can be virtual. Our 158-page Know-How to Change-Your-Life Course Workbook supports what you can do and is helpful by itself. It has questions you could go over with your mentee. See more about being a mentor at worknlearn.us/mentor. Mentoring can be some of the most challenging AND most rewarding work of the Church. We should not be afraid to mentor if God is involved. It starts with God, not with us. God’s adequacy fills our inadequacy. Help from a Mentor can be a major factor in the success of many Participants. It’s a team effort that requires being a good listener. Is there someone you would like to help change their life? You can! Let's refer to that person as your friend because either he or she is already your friend or will become one when you help him or her. Your friend needs to be the one to take the initiative and be their own agent in order to change their life. This is a team effort. Your having resources, backup and know-how to give effective help to your friend can enable the change to happen. A good source for free resources are the guidelines for 30 Actions to Change Your Life on a website by that same name at worknlearn.us . Introduce your friend to the choices that exist among the Actions and offer to help. Notice that help is also available for specific Actions from other volunteers skilled as career coaches, specialists and Christian mentors. Your help as a friend on a continuing basis may be the most transformative. Your friend may not have anyone else to help. And may not even know that help is available. Your friend can choose which Actions to take. And set his or her own independent time, schedule and place to accomplish them. You will want to be in touch, probably at least once a week. A call 1-to-1 is a good way to share and encourage progress being made. It approximates face-to-face contact very well when that is not possible. You can also help your friend recognize where additional help is needed and suggest whom he or she should call. Be an Encourager. Introduce someone struggling with their life or career to guidelines for actions they can take, one step at a time, to transform their life. Our website gives you much of the expertise you'll need. It equips you and the participant you help to succeed. The site, www.worknlearn.us, has guidelines to take 30 Actions-to-Change-Your-Life. Ten actions strengthen Biblical Values to understand spiritual gifts and calling. About 20 strengthen Career Skills to get a job and succeed in a career. Some strengthen interpersonal 1-to-1 relationships. Some describe the paths others have taken to experience the power of Jesus to transform their life. Other volunteers would like to back you up supporting the Participant you encourage. Many are experienced Career Coaches, Specialists and Christian Mentors eager to help. They have expertise in specific Actions and offer to work 1-to-1 with the Participant and with you. Inspire someone to discover and encourage them to take Actions-to-Change-Your-Life and to request help doing them. They can take their life in a whole new direction. Work and Learn, Inc. provides a valuable service to today's un/unemployed. The program provides participants and mentors the chance to hear words of wisdom from professionals who have faced the challenges of the workforce and job search. From writing resumes, search job sites, and conducting informational interviews to managing conflict in the workplace, being a good steward with your talents and finances, this organization helps provide necessary skills so participants can find their passions and rise above their own expectations.
