FC owns and manages 9 affordable housing communities in Austin (1,124 units), and 3 properties (691 units) in Arlington and Carrollton, Texas, for a total of 1,815 units. The rents on our properties are generally 10-40 percent below comparable market properties, and ninety-three percent of the money that FC residents spend on rent is reinvested into FC's residential programs. These programs provide a wide range of educational and financial services to more than 2,300 low-income families and single adults. Here are just some of the services we offer: -- On-site learning centers with computer labs offer opportunities ranging from free after-school programs for children to computer classes for adults -- Individual Development Account (IDA) Programs: matched savings accounts provide $2-4 in funds for every dollar deposited; earnings may be used for purchasing a home, college/technical training, or starting a business -- Financial Literacy: ten hour course teaches basic money management strategies so participants can meet long-term financial goals -- School Readiness Program (Pre-K): classes help children from predominantly Spanish-speaking families prepare for the school environment -- FutureVision: a 9-month course in which high-schoolers increase technology skills while exploring potential career options -- SEED Program: a savings account for adolescents whose funds are earmarked for college.
