Mission Statement

Common Ground's mission is to help people to move from Crisis to Hope. The agency's 24 - hour crisis hotline, youth and family services, emergency psychiatric services and other programs throughout Oakland County, MI are a lifeline for runaway and homeless youth, families in crisis, victims of crime, people with mental illness and others in critical situations. Common Ground serves over 30,000 individuals a year. Most of our services are provided free of charge.

Description

Our 24-hour crisis line (1.800.231.1127) receives more than 45,000 calls annually representing a variety of crisis situations including: suicide, victimization, relationship problems, substance abuse, domestic violence, financial problems, and mental illness. Crisis line volunteers, 16-years or older, connect, asist and listen to callers and provide information and referrals from a database of more than 4,500 sources. Our Crisis Chat and Text programs provide an outlet for people in crisis to talk anonymously and confidentially about any issues they are facing. The phone and text line (1.800.231.1127) is available seven days per week, 24 hours per day. The Crisis Chat is available through Common Ground's website at www.commongroundhelps.org
