Mission Statement
To promote liberty, equality and justice for the Latina/o LGBT community.
Description
The Latino Equality Alliance (LEA) was established in November 2008 in response to Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that removed from the California Constitution the right to marry from same-sex couples.
It was formed by LGBT Latina and Latino grassroots leaders to sharply increase public education in Latino communities about LGBT issues and build majority support for LGBT people in Latino communities and ifor Latino concerns within the LGBT movement.
Through an alliance of LGBT and ally organizations and stakeholders, we work in collaboration to promote liberty, equality, and justice for LGBT people through advocacy, outreach and public education.
Priority areas are:
- Family Acceptance of LGBTQ Youth
- Policy and Equaly Rights Advocacy
- LGBT Inclusive Immigration Reform
