I have been a Money Manager/Bill Payer at Alternatives for 8 years. I will continue to volunteer for them in the future and I plan to work full time for them when I retire as well. It is a great organization to give your time to. They provide outstanding services for the older adult to maintain their independence. Money management, to me, is the most rewarding because you provide help for those on fixed income that are stuggling with budget organization. There is nothing more stressful for older folks than to struggle with a budget. Helping with bill paying, record keeping, and the all important reconciliation of the bank statement relieves them of the fears of being overwhelmed with bill collection agency requests. You can make a difference by volunteering your help with this agency.
