ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION STATEMENT In the fast evolving field of transfusion medicine, it is our mission to collect blood and deliver comprehensive blood products and services that enable medical professionals to provide the most efficient and effective patient care and apply focused investments in transfusion and related medical areas to leverage organization resources for the next generation of scientific and community development Furthermore, LIFESOURCE'S MISSION TO THE COMMUNITY IS TO: Provide quality blood products and services in a cost-effective manner Provide other services that support the community's healthcare needs Educate the community to donate blood and to encourage donations by providing frequent and convenient opportunities Educate and inform healthcare professionals and the public about transfusion medicine Conduct and participate in research activities

Description

Non-Profit - Primary resource for blood products and services in Northeast Illinois, serving Northeast Il and South Central Wisconsin. Serving as the only full-service blood center to over 50 hospitals - 8 of which are Level I trauma centers - and over 100 home healthcare agencies. LifeSource operates 18 community donor centers and conducts an average of 10 mobile blood drives daily. LifeSource recruits donors, collects bone marrow, and draws blood to separate into useful components like: whole blood, platelets, plasma, stem cells and other special products for hospitals and healthcare customers.
