The recruiter will be responsible for identifying young people that would be a good fit for the Youth Leadership & Development (YLD) program. Candidates need experience in job placement, workforce development, recruiting, and customer relations. The recruiter is responsible for outreach, events, and follow-up for the whole recruitment cycle. The recruiter should be knowledgeable about youth development and able to work with youth from a variety of backgrounds Job Responsibilities: Identify opportunities to source candidates through events, online platforms, direct outreach and partnerships (e.g. career centers) Foster a set of relationships with partners such as career centers, local schools, and community centers to promote YLD opportunities to future candidates. Directly engage prospective students to inform them about YLD generate interest to apply and guide them as needed through the application process Plan and execute promotional events to recruit new participants Implement a system of communication (texts, calls, emails, social media messaging, etc.) with individual participants and their families to ensure all interested youth are able to participate in and complete the program Coordinate and participate in outreach, special events, training, programs, projects, meetings, and other initiatives as assigned Track participant progress in programs *Qualifications:*Passionate about recruiting a high quality and diverse corps for our students. Community Outreach Coordinator responsibilities: Identify contacts, and perform direct/ongoing outreach efforts with community organizations, businesses, churches, schools, hospitals, healthcare providers, and government officials for the purpose of enlisting them in the Violence Prevention Consortium (VPC) goal of enhancing the quality of life within families. The Coordinator would not only inform community "players" of the existence of the VPC and its mission and services, they would also be responsible for actively following up with contacts and reporting back to the advisory committee. These ongoing outreach efforts are designed to encourage participants to take specific measures within their own organizations that would contribute significantly to violence prevention efforts. All efforts are aimed at involving residents to develop initiatives and programs aimed at preventing violence and keeping children from becoming involved or influenced by street violence. The Coordinator will need to attend mandatory monthly committee meetings to provide the group with updates on recent outreach efforts and to assist with the identification of community "players". The Coordinator will be a "Face" for VPC initiatives and serve by preparing residents, business owners, educators and clergy for meetings, attending meetings, supporting media relations and correspondence, budget management, personnel management, etc. This is a remote/virtual position however, the preferred candidate will live/work in the United States.

AWOFINC’s advisory committee exists to help the organization raise funds, tap into existing community resources, and use their networks and relationships to integrate the AWOFINC projects within other community activities. Meetings are held quarterly and last approximately 1.5 hours. Members are responsible for their own transportation to meetings. Refreshments may be served at advisory committee meetings. The advisory committee meets as a body and, on occasion, forms subcommittees to explore issues in greater detail for consideration by the full advisory board. Recommendations are forwarded to Chairman and the Board of Directors Be residents of or employed in the areas we serve and be familiar with the area's social service and economic development needs. Be familiar with such programs as HUD, TANF, CDBG, and CSBG and other human service development programs activities. Examples include but are not limited to: asset building, earned income tax credit services, banking and savings, homeowner ship, higher education, microbusiness, training, and more. Be familiar with various aspects of fundraising. This might include having established relationships with potential funding partners, such as community foundations, corporations, individual donors or angel investors. It also might include knowledge of fundraising and grant making, such as preparation of funding applications. Be able to participate effectively in a collaborative group process, which requires ability to listen to and work well with other board members, provide feedback in a respectful manner, and be open to a diversity of ideas.

The primary criteria for recruiting these parent leaders is your passion, desire, and enthusiasm for making positive changes in their family and community. There are minimal age restrictions and all community residents who consider themselves parents are eligible for volunteering, including teen parents, grandparents, foster parents, and non-custodial fathers. Previous experience with and training by Strengthening Families Illinois will be considered a plus. The project is highly structured and facilitated through a comprehensive implementation manual. Once parent leaders are trained, they will form teams to design and implement service projects which will contribute to building protective factors in their community. Service projects will be designed with an eye toward making a positive contribution to the community. There will be service projects for each community including: working with the Health & Wellness team and scheduling ongoing parent cafes (or other ways to teach parents in the community about the protective factors and assist them with strengthening their families). Peer-to-peer community outreach using Parent Leaders is an effective and empowering way to engage residents in ongoing conversation around violence prevention, mental wellness and positive coping strategies to stress and trauma. In this component of the Parent Leadership Training Initiative (PLTI), the Parent Leadership in Action Network (PLAN) will: Identify low-income parents and other caregivers of color in various communities who have been "through the fire" in dealing with their own issues (life struggles) and have navigated the tricky waters and challenges of raising adolescents; Recruit these parents for volunteerism (8 hours per week) doing community education and outreach to their peers (other parents of adolescents); Arm these parents with content (mental wellness) communications, training on prevention (violence) strategies and leadership training; Provide ongoing personal development opportunities, including group activities; and Prepare these new parent leaders to become "go-to" resources in the neighborhood. Document the impact of COVID-19 on each family's stability. Parent Leaders will share information with the community in a series of one-hour outreach/interpersonal dialogue sessions. This will include: One-on-one, parent-to-parent dialogues. In-home interpersonal dialogues (with 2-3 adults); Small-group sessions (2-5 people); Parent workshops (5-10) or parent cafés (15+); and Community events (public). February into November, hours taper in portions of the season Working as part of a tight-knit team, the Community Gardens Assistant nurtures various community gardens, fostering each to be beautiful learning, growing space for all who use it. This position assists in the stewardship and operations of our gardens ensuring that they are welcoming, functional places for our gardeners to grow. DUTIES: Existing Garden Stewardship Maintain and improve existing garden infrastructure and facilities to allow gardeners to utilize the space for maximum utility and inspiration. Ensure regular maintenance at the community garden sites including mowing, weed whacking, irrigation, and weeding common areas. Prepare garden plots, community spaces, and tools for gardeners, incorporating garden Leadership Committee members, volunteers, and staff in this effort. Assist Leadership Committees in identifying and responding to plot abandonments and neglect. Maintain tools, irrigation systems, and general garden appearance to community garden standards and to ensure safety at sites. Train garden leadership Committee Members on maintenance activities. Community Gardens What it is: Outside the typical community garden model, our community gardens are planted and maintained by Community Garden staff and grow food for the community residents and farmers' markets. In addition, the garden provides respite for seniors, lifestyle change program participants and certain public school students. Implement a planting plan from seed to harvest at the Community Gardens each season using sustainable methods. Help coordinate Community Garden staff and volunteers to help tend and harvest the garden throughout the season. Participate as a member of the team that coordinates education and outreach efforts with the Health & Wellness team. Maintain site to be as a welcoming and therapeutic place for all visitors, Health & Wellness staff, and lifestyle change program participants. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and to work outdoors for extended lengths of time and all weather conditions.
