The American Cancer Society's mission is to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Our Leadership roles: 1. Support better decisions by making available high-quality, timely, understandable information, especially to newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers. 2. Advance cancer-related research outcomes by funding key research gaps and by influencing the amount and direction of funds invested by leading research sponsors. 3. Improve quality of life of cancer patients at the community level by assisting primarily with service referral, community mobilization, collaboration, advocacy, and, where appropriate, directly providing services. 4. I recently was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was the beginning of 2014. I went through treatments and had a masectomy. This totally changed my life. I take one day at a time and I know what others may be going through. Love and support is what is needed to get them through. I had volunteered in 1993 at the office because I wanted to help. But I could not appreciate at that time what it was really all about or what they were actually going through.I have a lot of office experience, which I do enjoy. But I would also like to be able to personally help them though both their journey to recovery and/or with the pain and frustrations which often make it difficult along the way. Thank you for your consideration . It would mean the world to me to help others that are going through what I did.
