This summer, you can provide excellent service to our visitors and create a memorable experience. Honor, remember, and volunteer. The National September 11 Memorial and Museum honors and remembers the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. Through their purchase of meaningful keepsakes at the Museum Store, visitors help preserve history and support the Memorial & Museum’s mission. Summer Retail Greeter volunteers are an essential part of our team as we welcome millions of visitors. DETAILS: Summer Retail volunteers assist staff in the Museum Store and at the Retail carts on the Memorial during this busy time. As a Summer Retail volunteer, you will greet visitors and provide helpful information about products. Responsibilities include: - Inform visitors about products and store promotions - Share stories behind products as they connect to themes in the Museum, such as recovery efforts and remembrance - Assist with tagging, inventory, folding t-shirts and restocking items With training, you can teach visitors stories that they will share with family and friends. TIME COMMITMENT: We recommend summer volunteers work two 4-hour shifts per week (8 hours each week) for 2-3 months. We ask that you maintain the same two shifts each week, when possible. You are requested not to miss more than two shifts in the summer. We will ask you to make up missed shifts within two weeks. HOW TO APPLY: Join our exceptional team today. Summer Visitor Services volunteers are an essential part of our team at the Memorial & Museum as we welcome millions of visitors. DETAILS: Summer Visitor Services volunteers play a critical role during this busy time by connecting with visitors and providing a meaningful experience both on the 9/11 Memorial and in the Museum. We are seeking Summer Visitor Services volunteers of all ages 16+ who are friendly, outgoing, and comfortable assisting Memorial & Museum visitors. Responsibilities include: - Welcome and greet visitors - Proactively offer assistance, answer questions - Inform visitors about programs and exhibitions available inside the Museum - Help with directions With training, you can learn to provide excellent service to our visitors and help them remember 9/11. Remember and honor the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001.

Description

The 9/11 Memorial is located at the site of the former World Trade Center complex in lower Manhattan, and occupies approximately half of the 16-acre site. The 9/11 Memorial features two enormous waterfalls and reflecting pools, each about an acre in size, set within the footprints of the Twin Towers.

The National September 11 Memorial Museum is the country’s principal institution concerned with exploring the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring 9/11’s continuing significance. Located at the bedrock/foundation level of the Twin Towers, the Museum is a moving tribute to the events of September 11 th .
