Mission Statement

The Conway-Battle Creek Living at Home/Block Nurse Program (CBC Seniors) is a neighborhood-based organization working to gain broad acceptance of aging as a life process by tapping into the strengths of every elder as a giver as well as a receiver. Governed by a board compromised of committed neighbors, CBC Seniors recruits, trains and coordinates local volunteers to keep pace with the Age Wave happening in our neighborhood. We provide, arrange for and coordinate an array of services, including in-home nursing services when needed and follow-up to make sure each client’s unique needs are met. We also offer outreach, health promotion and caregiver education to faith communities and businesses to educate them on the aging process.

Description

Our small non-profit works to keep seniors living in their own homes. We accomplish this by providing whatever services we can reasonably undertake. Our work is done "in the field", in the homes of our clients, and virtually all our services such as chores, maintenance, transportation, med and grocery delivery, friendly visiting, respite and blood pressure clinics are provided by volunteers -at no to cost our seniors. Many of our clients are also volunteers. The only requirements for being one of clients is to be 65+ and live in District 1 of St. Paul. Volunteers are the eyes and ears of our program.

We are governed by volunteers who are area residents. We also work with resources such as area churches, schools and other private and public agencies.

We are working towards the acceptance of aging as a life process, by tapping into the strengths of every senior as a giver as well as a receiver.
