Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee is part of the largest national network of mentoring organizations serving children, families, and communities. We were founded in 1970 and currently serve nine counties - Anderson, Blount, Hawkins, Knox, Loudon, Roane, Scott, Sullivan and Washington. Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is about sharing simple, magical moments with a child. Each of us had a special person who opened doors and widened our horizons on the world. By beign a Big, you can do the same for a child, and you will both be forever changed by the experience. Bigs can choose to serve in either the community-based mentoring or school-based mentoring program. Bigs are matched with Littles (children ages 7-15) . The volunteers spend approximately 2-4 hours every other week for one year with their assigned "Little Brother" or "Little Sister".
