With a focus on listening to what is important to each individual and family, Alpha provides a positive environment for families, staff and participants; where trust and confidence develop. Our goal is to ensure that all people served pursue activities and relationships that support independence, self-sufficiency, and fulfillment. Programs are created with participants, not for them, and take into consideration the talents, goals, and abilities of each individual. Alpha Resource Center of Santa Barbara is a countywide program that supports people with disabilities of all ages. We provide services and supports to over 2,200 people in Santa Barbara County. Our Family Services programs provide person-to-person support for families with children with special needs. Workshops, referral services, and resource libraries are available to all families needing support. Our Office of Advocacy helps families and individuals to navigate complex systems of service providers, so that they can have full access to the services available to them. Alpha’s Teen Recreation program, Teen Extreme, provides social and recreational opportunities for teens and young adults with disabilities, offering a safe and inclusive environment for teens to develop friendships with caring individuals and just be themselves. Alpha Adult Services provides empowering day-service programs to people with disabilities, ages 22 and up. Participants enjoy pursuing their talents and abilities, as well as learn skills that increase their confidence and lead to greater independence and self-sufficiency. Programs are available on and off campus and are created by the participants and staff together.
