Making the Most of Life - Hospice Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart of Hospice. Seeking compassionate volunteers 18 years and older to provide companionship and respite for our patients in Eastern Hillsborough county. These volunteers visit patients in their homes, assisted living and nursing home facilities where they provide a much needed support to the patient and or their family members. Volunteers assist with errand running, capturing memories with life legacies, or just being present for the individual. Licensed hair stylists are always needed to volunteer their time and talents. Volunteers with certified therapy animals are also welcome . Make a difference in the life of a child

LifePath Hospice is looking for dedicated volunteers of all skill levels to work with pediatric patients and children living with a loved one under Hospice Care. The siblings or children/grandchildren of hospice patients can often get lost in the shuffle as their parents are learning to care for their loved one. Volunteers do not provide any medical or personal hands-on care for patients or family members. They merely provide companionship and the invaluable gift of time. There are many opportunities to share your unique talents with these children including: Companionship - read them stories, polish their nails, play games, engage in craft projects, listen to music or whatever activity the child is interested in. Tutoring - assist pediatric patients, siblings and other child family members who may be falling behind in schoolwork due to medical appointments or the emotional impact of having a loved one on hospice care. Legacy and Memory - Making Program - Create lasting memories for children and adults through art and creative projects Running errands - help with grocery shopping, walking the dog, or other small errands that can help a family who may not have time to leave the house. Volunteers must complete an 8 hour training class and submit to a background check. Grief Support Group Leader for Children and Teens

LifePath Hospice is looking for Dedicated volunteers to assist with our Circle of Love support groups. Circle of Love volunteers are extraordinary people who make a big difference in the lives of grieving children and adults. These volunteers will co-lead groups in the evening in our South Tampa and Sun City locations and help facilitate healthy grief work through sharing and creative self-expression. Inside the Circle of Love Center's activity rooms, feelings are expressed through art, games and dramatic play. The average time commitment is 10 hours per month and we ask for a 1 year commitment. Volunteers much complete hospice Volunteer training as well as a day of specialized training to work with grieving children. LifePath Hospice volunteers are men and women of all ages who have a desire to help others make the most of life. Volunteers are needed to make daily phone calls to hospice patients to ensure that the patients are comfortable and receiving the necessary care. Volunteers will have the opportunity to connect with patients and provide a warm caring outreach to them. You might be the only bright spot in their day. Volunteers are needed in a variety of locations in shifts of 2 hours or more. South Tampa 9a-6p 7 days a week Temple Terrace 9a-6p M-F Sun City 9a-6p M-F A two hour orientation is required. Description

LifePath Hospice offers guidance and support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families as they travel on a new and unfamiliar path of life. With the assistance of medical professionals, counselors, clergy and trained volunteers, patients and families are cared for and educated on end-of-life issues in order to make this final journey as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

Volunteering with Hospice was a life changing event for me. It helped me to better understand the end of life process as well as provided me the honor of attending to families and patients at this most difficult time. It was a honor to volunteer and it changed me forever.
