I found a volunteer opportunity with Friends of the Shelter through VolunteerMatch.org in late 2007 and have been volunteering with them since. I support their mission, to fund medical and surgical care for sick & injured homeless dogs in Franklin County to enable them to find forever homes, saving their lives as these dogs would not be 'adoptable' without the care. Their fundraising events are always a fun time and they are able to do so much good with such a small volunteer base & funding. 97% of donations to FOTS go directly to the dogs!
