Mission Statement

The problem that Naperville CARES addresses is the inability of its clients to pay for basic and essential needs such as housing, utilities and transportation. When an unexpected financial emergency occurs such as a car repair, the individual or family often is forced to decide whether to pay the repair bill or rent. The mission of CARES is to help local families in financial crisis meet their essential needs by providing emergency financial support and resources.

Description

Naperville CARES provides direct financial assistance and collaborates with local faith communities and social service agencies to provide additional resources to those residents who need help to pay for basic needs like housing and utilities. The CARES' Car Program repairs donated cars and gives them to families who lack critical transportation to provide for their families. The goal of Naperville CARES is not to duplicate services but to maximize the limited resources of the community at large.

CARES is still a mostly volunteer organization with only one full-time and two part-time employees. The client intake and documentation process is handled by volunteers in our office and the process of taking in donated cars, repairing them and then donating them to families is handled off site.
