The Fremont Summer Solstice Parade is a defining event in the Fremont community and Seattle as a whole. Drawing from the high energy of the coming of summer, it celebrates life on a grand scale, with wildly creative costumes, swirling color and music, inspired satire, silliness, and a gusto for life that bursts from the pulsing mass of marchers. Th parade culminates in the Pageant, a myth created through a community process and told through giant puppets and art. The parade has four simple rules that make it like no other parade in the region: No Motorized Vehicles (escept wheelchairs), no Written Words or Logos, No Live Animals (except assist animals), and No Weapons.
