American Red Cross Mid Florida Region
The American Red Cross of Central Florida responds to the needs of disaster victims in the Central Florida area, encompassing Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties, providing immediate and supplemental direct disaster relief as a direct result of fire, flood, hurricane, tornado etc. This includes meeting basic needs for a safe and comfortable shelter, replacement clothing if necessary, adequate food supply, and follow up care to help families and individuals return to normal living. To address the physical and emotional needs resulting from substantial loss and home displacement, physical and mental health counseling is offered. The chapter also conducts outreach community disaster education and assistance to the military and their families. All disaster and emergency services are provided free of charge to those in need, made possible by the generous donations of the American People. These services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Other volunteer opportunities available include Health and Safety Services instructors, instructor trainers, office support and equipment care; Dial-A-Friend telephone reassurance program for the aged and infirm; the Teen Corps; and much, much more!
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
