I worked with the Family Abuse Center in Waco for about 2-3 years and saw great results for the women that came into our center. They came to us frighten and not knowing where to turn for resources for their families. We gave them confidence and skills to reach out for jobs in the community. If they could not stay in the Waco area we placed them somewhere safe. Our agency was a safe haven for these women and their children.

The Domestic Abuse Helpline is by far the best organization I have been involved with. The Organization is very well managed by a great set of people with extensive knowledge in Domestic Abuse. The online training was an excellent tool for me to gain additional information and it has assisted me when dealing with callers on the helpline. The other volunteers go the extra mile to assist anybody they can and everyone works together to ensure no call is left unanswered. It has been and continues to be a great virtual opportunity for me and knowing that so many people are dedicated to this awesome cause makes it even more worth while.

The volunteers and coordinators with DAHMW are fine people -- in every respect they are committed to helping people, from providing counseling to directing people to resources in their area. Some coordinators work 12-hour shifts several days a week on top of working elsewhere. Their compassion for callers and each other makes this the best and most uplifting volunteering experience I've ever had.

I was hesitant about helping this organization because of the information I read here about them. All I can tell you is I am not sure how anyone could have anything but a positive experience with them. I have a doctorate and have worked with many organizations over the years. This is one of the most inspirational and impacting organizations I have encountered. It is a young organization that is continuously growing and always open to ideas and suggestions. This coupled with inspiring leadership has motivated me to increase my commitment.
