My husband and I adopted our male pit bull mix puppy from Bully Paws in 2013 and our female American Bulldog in 2014. The experience was wonderful and everyone, from the volunteers to the foster parents, are thoroughly dedicated to serving the dogs in their care to the best of their abilities. The process for adopting or fostering is extensive and time-consuming but that is only because Bully Paws seeks to ensure that each dog is placed with the appropriate family and that each family acquires the appropriate addition to their pack.

I have worked with this organization for just over a year now and absolutely love what I do. I have had a heart for pit bulls for 15 years, but it wasn't until my first pit died in 2012 that I decided to join the fight to end pit bull discrimination. I began volunteering at shelter events, going to the shelter weekly to evaluate the dogs, and became a foster as well. I have met so many wonderful dogs, helped them to find homes, and the people that have helped along the way have become friends for life.
Animal rescue work is not easy. There are a lot of ups and downs. Fortunately, the positives far outweigh the negatives and I have found that working with Bully Paws this past year has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my family's life.
We are always looking for other volunteers and we would love to have you join us in helping to save bully breeds in Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
