We're currently looking for individuals to volunteer in our central intake office, taking phone referrals for our Fayette County Pantry Program. Central intake volunteers take phone referrals from social service agencies and set clients up for an appointment to pick up food at one of five area pantries. Minimal typing skills, computer knowledge, and data entry experience is required. We are looking for individuals who can make a long-term commitment to the morning (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or afternoon (1 to 3 p.m.) shift. Help serve your neighbors by assisting at our Winchester Road Pantry! Volunteers are responsible for stocking shelves after the pantry closes, and preparing pantry for next day operations. We're currently looking for individuals (age 18 ) to volunteer in our Fayette County food pantries. Pantry volunteers are responsible for checking clients in at the pantry, guiding clients in their food selections, shelving food (may require lifting up to 40 lb. boxes), and conducting regular clean-up and trash removal. Volunteers must be able to work directly with clients and without food bank staff supervision. We are looking for individuals who can make a long-term commitment to a regular 2- or 3-hour shift, as consistency in staffing the pantries is important. In 1955, a concerned citizen named Mim Hunt began distributing food out of the basement of her home to those in need of assistance. Through the years, this small effort grew into the large-scale hunger relief organization that God’s Pantry Food Bank is today. Our mission is to reduce hunger in Kentucky through community cooperation making the best possible use of all available resources.
