Mission Statement

To provide quality safety and shelter to battered women and their children through crisis intervention and short term crisis therapeutics and to reduce the occurence of violence against women and children in the greater Dallas area.

Description

Genesis Women's Shelter serves over 1200 women and children each year that are forced to leave their home and seek refuge. Battered women and their children must seek safety and often arrive at the Shelter with only the clothes that they are wearing. They become the "instant poor". Their need for food, clothing, and housing is immediate. In addition to fulfilling these needs, the Shelter provides therapeutic counseling, children's services, aid in obtaining medical and legal help and information about remaining safe. Referrals are made for childcare, transportation, financial aid, housing and jobs. These services are provided at no cost to our Clients.
