Mission Statement

Penn's Village is a community-based membership organization in central Philadelphia which assists older adults to live independently in their own homes by providing varying services and programs that increase social engagement through a network of volunteers.

Description

Penn’s Village has three goals:
-To help those growing older remain in their homes, comfortably and enjoyably, for as long as they’d like
-To provide select services to busy residents as they balance personal and professional responsibilities, and
-To help foster a spirit of neighborliness and community belonging.

Volunteers are vital members of the Penn’s Village team. Volunteer oportunities include service delivery, committee participation and engagement at many levels of the organization.

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities to suit different interests, skills, talents and schedules. There is no required time commitment.

All volunteers must permit Penn’s Village to perform a criminal background check. All volunteers who agree to transport members in their automobiles must also agree to a driving record check, and show proof of insurance.

Whether Volunteers have direct contact with members or assist behind the scenes they enhance the work of Penn’s Village and thus strengthen our community.

Penn’s Village welcomes and actively encourages an inclusive and diverse community of members, staff, Board of Directors and volunteers. Inclusiveness and diversity mean welcoming all and excluding no one because of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, physical abilities, religious beliefs or political beliefs.
