Mission Statement

Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes as many Dalmatians and Dalmatian-mixes in Florida shelters as possible that need our help. Our first and main priority is to take the Dalmatians and Dalmatian-mixes who are facing euthanasia at animal controls. If resources permit, we also help Dalmatians in surrounding states. We provide care-for-life foster homes and a sanctuary for Dalmatians who cannot find a home due to their advanced age and/or medical conditions. We thoroughly vet dogs and then screen prospective owners with home and veterinary reference checks before placing any dog into a new home.

Description

Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay searches for at-risk Dalmatians, and mixes when possible, in area shelters. We then pull the dog, transport it, and place it into either a foster home or kennel until a foster home can be found. We then assess their health needs and get them up to date on vaccinations, altered, and address any other health issue the dog may have such as heartworms. Once the dog is deemed healthy enough for adoption we list the dogs online using petfinder and other means. An adopter is required to fill out an application, a vet check & home visit is performed, and adoption agreement signed. Follow-ups are done to insure all is well and everything is working out. To do all this we depend upon our network of unpaid volunteers.
