Mission Statement

The Building Bridges - Second Chance Initiative is a Program of the Pennsylvania Prison Society. The goal of the Program is to provide reintegration mentoring, community resources and support services to incarcerated men and women being released from the State Correctional Institutions in Pittsburgh and Muncy. The Building Bridges Program strives to offer former offenders a bridge to resources that leads them to a rewarding reintegration process and a promising future.

Description

We recognize that year after year, men and women are being released from prison and returning home to communities across the country. In Pennsylvania alone, 90 percent of those in prison will return to the community.
Building Bridges- A Second Chance Initiative program seeks to ensure that in Pennsylvania, specifically in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, the former offender's road to reintegration is paved with community and family support.

Our challenge is reducing recidivism.

We believe that by providing men and women returning home from prison the necessary resources and support they need, we can make a difference in their lives.
