Mission Statement

Arc Thrift Stores mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families by providing funding to support the Arc and ACL chapters in Colorado. We believe that all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities should have the opportunity to decide how they live, learn, work, and play.

Description

There are 22 arc Thrift Stores in Colorado Front Range area, we have over 1,200 employees and we have over 150 employed individuals with a disability. Arc Thrift Stores distributes over $5,000,000 annually to 12 Arc Chapters statewide. We also resell or recycle 100% of the items that are donated including automobiles. Arc Thrift Stores is a Tax-exempt, non-profit organization that is dedicated to creating and funding programs that serve those who are the most vulnerable in our society: individuals living with developmental disabilities. The proceeds generated through the sales of gently used clothing and household items at Arc Thrift Stores are distributed to Arc Chapters and the Associations for Community Living (ACL) through out Colorado.

Metropolitan Association for Retarded Citizens (MARC) was formed in 1968 as the fund raising arm for local ARC Chapters to support people living developmental disabilities. These include, but are not limited to Down Syndrome, Fragile X, Cerebral Palsy, mental retardation and autism spectrum disorder. We believe that individuals with developmental disabilities can, in many cases, live independent, fully functioning lives. To achieve that goal we support the Arc Chapters who provide advocacy, health care, housing, case management and education for these individuals.

I was recently shopping at The Arc in Boulder Colorado and a lady working there was just horrible. Apparently she was a volunteer but her attitude and advances towards my husband where just sad. Her name was Deborah and she had long hair and very crude and just down right vulgar.
