As a leader in community development, Westside Neighborhood Development Corporation (WENDCO) is committed to providing programming in the areas of housing, economic development, and neighborhood revitalization!
It is our mission to provide a comprehensive array of services and programs which will holistically impact and improve our area. It is our goal, and our passion, to revitalize our neighborhoods by creating replicable models of community development.
Description
Our work to-date has supported neighborhood stabilization, through Housing Acquisition and Rehabilitative Projects, New Home Development Partnerships, Home Ownership Qualification Programs, Mortgage and Finance Assistance Programs, Emergency Home Repairs, Credit Counseling & Homebuyer Education Courses, in addition to Neighborhood Cleaning & Greening Efforts! We continue to seek and develop new partnerships which will expand our holistic approach to neighborhood stability.
In order to maintain the successful structural developments, we are working to create more affordable housing units, and, to encourage more "get-to-know your neighbor" community based recreational activities. We are also looking to establish more job and educational opportunities for are residents.
It is our agency’s position that a multi-prong urban neighborhood revitalization effort is the strongest foundation for saving our communities. And, while it is proven that rebuilding, restoring and retrofitting our commercial and residential structures are critical first-steps in the process of building strong and vibrant urban centers; it is equally important to revitalize the vision and knowledge of its residents. External revitalization is supported long-term, by individual and community spirit revitalization.
