The Cyesis Teen Parent Program is a dropout prevention program within Riverview High School, within the Sarasota County Schools. The overall goal is to increase the likelihood that pregnant and parenting students will earn a high school diploma or its equivalent through the provision of an educational program that meets their needs. Child care is vital to retaining young parents in school. The Cyesis Teen Parent Program, with Head Start, provides care for infants and toddlers ages 2 weeks to 5 years. The child care is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and staffed by highly trained early childhood educators. The focus is always on quality and early intervention to improve the lives of young children.
Mission Statement
The RHS Cyesis Teen Parent program encourages each teen parent to achieve academically, increase self-esteem, make healthy decisions, prepare for high quality employment, and understand the impact of parenting on her/his child's development. The Cyesis community fosters a nurturing and enriched atmosphere that allows each young child to develop the necesary skills for physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth so that school readiness is achieved.
