To strengthen multicultural communities and families by empowering Members to address community issues in education and human need through service learning, civic participation, and skills development at a variety of neighborhood-based sites.

Description

Multicultural Communities in Action (MCA), is an AmeriCorps program based in St. Paul. AmeriCorps is a way for people to respond to needs in their community while learning new work skills and earning money for education. In exchange for service, members receive valuable trainings, a living allowance, and upon successful completion of service, an education award which can be used for existing or future tuition expenses. The positions are one-year full time commitments and are located in St Paul, Minneapolis, Edina and Minnetonka.

Member service opportunities include tutoring elementary through high school aged children, and providing children with educational and recreational programming at a variety of after-school programs.
