Volunteer Delivery Drivers provide nourishing foods to our community by delivering up to 5 pallets of food to our partner organizations while using a Second Harvest vehicle. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Loading the Vehicle: Pick up Second Harvest vehicle at 2802 Dairy Drive, Madison WI 53718 Load the vehicle with the orders that are detailed on the delivery sheet. Volunteers will be expected to sit; stand; walk; crouch; twist; reach with hands and arms; and lift between 20-30 pounds during the loading process Delivering the Order: Drive to the partner agency. Maps and directions will be provided for each location. Upon arrival at the partner agency, help agency staff/volunteers unload food. Returning the Vehicle: Return the vehicle back to Second Harvest following the shift. Tidy the vehicle for the next driver and return the keys to the Distribution Center. QUALIFICATIONS: Have a current driver’s license, good driving record, and be able to pass the following: Motor vehicle registration check Criminal background check Friendly, patient, with an eye for detail. Be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Most lifting will be less, and assistance with any heavy lifting may be available. Volunteers will have some interaction with community members and Second Harvest partners during their delivery and are expected to follow SHFB policies and procedures. This role will drive a Box Truck to make deliveries. SCHEDULE: Drivers are assigned a regular, agreed upon schedule. Routes are typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm COMMITMENT: Minimum 6-month commitment REQUIREMENTS: 21 years and above Approved Second Harvest volunteer Completed motor vehicle registration check and criminal background check before first delivery Onboarding and driver training to be completed before service begins LOCATION: Second Harvest Foodbank Distribution Center, 2802 Dairy Drive, Madison, WI, 53718 Volunteer Delivery Drivers are assigned agreed-upon routes within our 16-county service area

Volunteer Position: Agency Pickup & Donations Desk MISSION Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin exists to end hunger in southwestern Wisconsin GENERAL PURPOSE The Agency Pickup & Donations Desk Volunteer will assist our Partner Agencies with their pickup orders and receive all drop-off donations. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pull Orders for Agency Pickup: Assist Partner Agencies by pulling orders located around the Distribution Center and help with loading their orders into their vehicles. Receive Donations: Record donations and place received donations into their designated areas of the Distribution Center. QUALIFICATIONS: Volunteers will have some interaction with community members and Second Harvest partners and are expected to abide by SHFB policies and procedures. Friendly, patient, with an eye for detail. Volunteers will be expected to sit; stand; walk; crouch; twist; reach with hands and arms; and lift between 20-30 pounds. Experience using a pallet jack, or willingness to learn. VOLUNTEER POSITION: Mobile Pantry Administrative Volunteer GENERAL PURPOSE The Mobile Pantry Administrative Volunteer will support the Mobile Pantry Program with administrative duties including inventory and supply management to ensure our Mobile Pantries have necessary supplies and materials for a safe and organized distribution. This role will be responsible for maintaining and organizing supplies and creating flyers for Mobile Pantry sites. Mobile Pantries: Mobile Pantries are a supplemental source of food for households experiencing nutrition insecurity, those whose nutrition needs are not being met. Mobile Pantries all operate on a scheduled, recurring basis with immediate distribution to participants upon delivery. Mobile pantries occur at partner locations across our 16 counties. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintaining Supplies Create a Mobile Pantry supply inventory sheet and use this sheet to track supplies. Notify the supervisor when supplies are getting low. Organize and consolidate the Mobile Pantry Supply area while making sure supplies are packed and labeled accurately with the Mobile Pantry location, date, time, and the coordinator's name. This information will be provided. Gather supplies, including traffic cones and other light equipment, to transfer items between our two facilities on Dairy Drive using a wagon. Other Tasks Create information signs for Mobile Pantry sites, such as a sign stating "Stay in Your Vehicle" or "Mobile Pantry Entrance". Collate and cut flyers. QUALIFICATIONS: Friendly, patient, with an eye for detail Comfortable using computers and Google Docs Organizational Skills This role will be mostly standing and includes lifting, crouching, reaching, and lifting between 30-40 pounds. This position will also be walking supplies between our two buildings while pulling/pushing a wagon. Some familiarity with Second Harvest Foodbank COMMITMENT: 3 hrs/week 3 month commitment DATES: Start Date: February 26th Agreed upon a weekly schedule. The Retail Donor Engagement Volunteer plays a crucial role in nourishing relationships with our retail donors throughout our 16-county service area through face-to-face donor visits. These visits are intended to steward relationships, support donors on donation practices, and express gratitude to the donors for their partnership. This increased interaction with our food donors leads to better relationships and an increase in pounds of food donated. This is also an opportunity to support food donors with our processes, including fostering a deeper connection to understanding our food pantries, programs, and communities that receive the food. This includes donation protocols, visit history notes, and a donor dashboard. Prepare and manage donor folders for use during retail visits. The folder includes donor protocols, schedule info, donation history info, and more. Record notes from donor visits and capture questions, comments, and concerns Follow up with the Food Donor Coordinator to review notes within 7 days of the donor visit. If there are any action items, questions or concerns, please follow up the same day or the following day Track miles traveled per retail recovery route and maintain a miles reimbursement sheet. QUALIFICATIONS: Friendly, patient, with an eye for detail Works independently with minimal supervision while going on visits Volunteers will interact with community members and Second Harvest partners during their visits and are expected to abide by SHFB policies and procedures Comfortable with public speaking and initiating conversations Ability to use personal vehicle to drive to donor locations Willing to travel throughout multiple counties in Southern Wisconsin Familiarity with Second Harvest Foodbank COMMITMENT: 6-8/hr week - 72-96/hr quarterly 6-month commitment Onboarding, training, and role-shadowing must be completed prior to volunteer service begins. Volunteers will also need to be onsite at 2802 Dairy Drive to prepare and maintain outreach materials at least 1x week.
