Logan County Humane Society
The Logan County Humane Society is a non-profit animal shelter located in Russellville, KY. We have a contract with the county to operate the shelter. We receive approximately $17,000 divided into quarterly payments for operating expenses. Additional funding is the humane society's responsibility and is garnered through fundraising events and donations. We currently have a small, outdated facility and have been working diligently for the past year to upgrade the existing structure. We have twelve dog kennels enclosed and can house about fifty dogs. We can keep about twenty cats inside. We offer open admission (no charge) of all stray/surrendered dogs and cats, adoption (with mandatory spay/neuter), reclaim of lost/captured pet, low cost spay/neuter certificates, quarantine kennels, and we have our own web page for posting available pets for adoption. Our board of directors is focused on applying for grants to hopefully build a new shelter. Other priorities are an educational program targeted at K-6 grade children, adoption counseling and obedience training.
