I tutor residents in Math to help them prepare to take the Math GED test. For many people this is the hardest GED test to pass, and is the one topic keeping them from getting a GED. Lack of a GED really holds someone back, often disqualifying someone for a particular job, so this is a critical pain point for many of the residents here. So, working to help residents learn math and pass this test is very rewarding. The staff is extremely supportive of its volunteers, and the residents really appreciate the help they get.
