We are a non-profit organization 501 (c) (3), privately operated, which solicts, collects, stores, and distributes edible surplus food to member nonprofit organizations. The Bay Area Food Bank began distribution of food and grocery items in 1981. Since its founding,the Food Bank has distributed over 100 million pounds of food to charitable, nonprofit organizations across 24 counties in south Alabama, southeast Mississippi, and nothwest Florida it serves as an Feeding America affiliate.
Mission Statement
The Bay Area Food Bank will serve as the source of food for member organizations faced with the challenge of feeding people who are hungry as a result of personal crisis or disaster. We will educate the public regarding domestic hunger and related issues.
