Vision Statement
Learning for Life strives to be the foremost co-educational youth program for character and career development.
Position Statement
Learning for Life programs are designed for all age groups from Kindergarten through age 20. Youth participation is open to any youth in the prescribed age group for that particular program.
Adults are selected by the participating organization for involvement in the program.
Color, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, economic status or citizenship is not criteria for participation.
Description
Learning for Life was developed to meet the critical needs of our nation's schools and communities.
Learning for Life is an educational program designed to meet the needs of youth and schools. It helps youth meet the challenge of growing up by teaching character and good decision-making skills and then linking those skills to the real world. Developed by professional educators and child-development experts, the Learning for Life curriculum has thee basic components: school-based learning, connecting activities, and work-based learning. Combined, these components provide a structure through which youth learn the value of respect and responsibility while discovering a world of career opportunities.
Youth today have more needs than ever before. We live in a changing world that has seen the disintegration of many families, rampant drug abuse, extreme violence, and moral decay. Young people these days are thrown into a hothouse of competition and social change that tests their decision-making skills.
Learning for Life is designed to support schools and other youth-serving organizations, such as home schooling in their efforts toward preparing youth to successfully handle the complexities of today's society and to enhance their self-confidence, motivation, and self-worth. Learning for Life also helps youth develop social and life skills, assists in character development, and helps them formulate positive personal values. It prepares youth to make ethical decisions that will help them achieve their full potential. Learning for Life enhances teacher capacity and increases youth learning!
