Mission Statement

Lanakila Meals on Wheels is a program of Lanakila Pacific, a 501(c)(3) organization offering assistance programs and operating social enterprises to build independence and improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive, physical, social or age-related challenges. Since 1939, our vision has been to embody self-sufficiency and inspire inclusive communities where people of all ages and abilities are empowered to live independently, find meaningful employment and thrive in spirit.

Description

As the only island-wide senior meal delivery service, Lanakila Meals on Wheels served 2,700 seniors and provided over 576,000 meals in FY21 - all thanks to our wonderful volunteers. Our meals are nutritious, providing homebound, low-income, or isolated kupuna with the boost they need to continue living with dignity at home. And it's more than just a meal - valuable interactions with staff and volunteers provide the aloha and wellness checks often missing from the lives of solitary seniors.

Lanakila is a great organization! They cater to your intrests and your needs; as far as finding the right fit for you in their organization. It's a fun place to volunteer and make new friendships. You can tell they have a real compassion for what they do. I chose Lanakila because they have all the values that I have as a person, and it gave me an opportunity to give back to the community!!

I have worked and volunteered with Lanakila Meals on Wheels for nearly ten years. Amazing staff and volunteers run the program. And it's far more than a meal delivery. It's really about caring for our elders and wonderful to be a part of.

Lanakila is a great place to volunteer. It's got a real 'Ohana feeling and everyone's really friendly. All the staff seem to truly care about the mission and their enthusiasm is catchy! They will work with your schedule and really care about you as a volunteer. It's a great place to help the needy elderly in the community and my 13 year old son could join in some stuff too. I really love this place.
