Mission Statement

Since 1991, MCHC has worked to improve the health of women, infants, and children through the collaborative efforts of individuals, providers, and policymakers.

Description

Healthy Start: MCHC is part of a national initiative to improve the health and well-being of women, infants, children and their families in communities with high rates of infant mortality and low birthweight. Bilingual, bicultural outreach workers in Coatesville, Kennett Square, Oxford, Phoenixville, and West Chester provide prenatal education and support.

Health Insurance Enrollment: MCHC coordinates a countywide outreach and enrollment effort to enroll uninsured infants, children, and adults into subsidized health coverage (Medicaid, CHIP and adultBasic).

Prenatal and Parenting Education: English and Spanish language individual and group education on pregnancy, prenatal care, labor and delivery, and infant development.

Kennett Square Family Center : Bilingual Parent Educators provide home visiting, school readiness skills, developmental screening, parent support groups, and resource referrals to help parents with children between the ages of 2 and 5 years.

Provider Education and Training: Training and technical assistance provided to health and social service organizations to enhance access and services to culturally diverse clients.

Interpreting and Translating: Spanish language interpreting/ translation services provided under contract to health and human service organizations.
