Mission Statement

OUR MISSION: To enrich young lives through education We accomplish this by: Providing an arena in which people from all backgrounds can make a meaningful difference in others' lives. We enlist volunteers with diverse interests and abilities to provide educational enrichment for youth from less advantaged communities. Conducting all of our programs in a safe, open and welcoming environment that places value on hands-on learning, exploration, and building character. Fostering global connections, focusing on communities in need that have asked us for help. Educating the whole child. We nurture the physical, intellectual and social development of our students and expect parental commitment to education of their children. Striving for excellence. We develop innovative and exemplary education-based programs that serve as models for others.

Description

The Paraclete is a small afterschool program located in South Boston. We offer a diverse range of classes that seek to both align and exceed the Boston Public Schools curriculum to enrich the educations of our students. We have offered classes in Robotics, Service Learning, Acting, Art, Creative Writing, Ecology, Archeology, Forensic Science and Aviation.

Although our program is small, we believe that our size is a strength in that it allows us to give individual attention to all of our students. We expect much of our students and teachers, and in return, demand much of ourselves. Our two overaching goals are create life-long learners and critical thinkers and to enroll our students in the top high schools in the city.
