Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation to serve as a professional sports management organization coordinating sporting events in the greater New Orleans area and working to attract future events that have both a positive and economic impact on our community.

Description

The Foundation was named "1996 Foremost Sports Commission", which honors a local sports commission or council that has succeeded in bringing events to its area that have had signifigant economic impact on the community. The Sports Summit cited the GNOSF for aggresively acquiring events such as Super BowlXXXI and more than 40 other events (which is near 70 to date) that together totalled an impact in excess of $400 million since 1988. Future events include the 2000 Reese's Gymnastic Cup, 2001 NCAA Basketball TOurnament (First and Second), 2002 Superbowl, and the 2003 Final Four.
