Mission Statement

The People Concern believes no one should have to live on the street or in a violent household. Our staff, volunteers and those we serve work together to address the effects of homelessness, poverty, mental and physical illness, abuse and addiction to ensure that all of our neighbors have access to the resources they need to be housed, healthy and safe. All new volunteers will need to complete our internal orientation course.

Description

The People Concern is one of Los Angeles County’s largest nonprofit social service agencies. We strive to end homelessness by providing care and support for those experiencing it, through outreach, housing, mental and medical health care, substance use services, domestic violence services, life skills & wellness programs and income assistance.

Since 1963, we have been the leaders in our field. Our staff, volunteers and those we serve all work together to address the effects of homelessness, poverty, mental and physical illness, abuse and addiction. We work to educate the broader community about these issues and improve public policy. The People Concern is a family - one dedicated to a community where everyone, regardless of the struggles they are overcoming, is housed, healthy and safe.

They are organized: stepping in to help out was easy. They're thorough with their staff recruitment. Helping the homeless is a top priority in LA.

OPCC is a wonderful organization, with very committed and caring staff. The volunteer supervisors are all extremely professional, totally dedicated to their volunteers and to those in the community they serve. There are so many diverse volunteer opportunities at OPCC, and all of them help people in the community who most need our help. I highly recommend this organization and all the volunteer opportunities it offers!
