The Meals on Wheels program provides Senior Adults with home delivery of delicious, nutritious hot as well as frozen meals that can be used at a later time. In addition to the meals, homebound Senior Adults also receive an often and much needed visit from a caring volunteer. This casual contact frequently leads to long-lasting friendships for someone who may have little to no social interaction. Senior Adults, as well as their families, value the peace of mind that comes from knowing they will be visited on a regular schedule. Maybe your talent is serving in the kitchen. Every weekday morning, our kitchen is busy making lunch before the breakfast hour! We could always use a few hands to help put together the Meals on Wheels and congregate dinners.

Meals on Wheels Montgomery County Meal Delivery

The needs from our elderly community have increased due to COVID-19. Food resources, isolation and loneliness are challenges that homebound seniors face everyday. Our goal is to build a community that nourishes and strengthens the lives of every homebound senior in Montgomery County. Volunteers help deliver meals to over 1000 homebound seniors each weekday and Saturday Breakfast Bags. Upon completing an application, waiver, background check and orientation, volunteers deliver a route convenient to their home or office. Meal delivery is a flexible volunteer opportunity. Volunteers can choose from a permanent assignment, such as every Wednesday or be a sub. Subs sign up from a link every Friday to help cover routes that are down for the upcoming week. Meals are picked up and delivered at 10:30am from 6 different pick up locations throughout the county. Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery, New Caney, The Woodlands and Willis Volunteering for Meals on Wheels is the easiest way to give back to your community. Special details: Due to federal regulations, each volunteer must undergo a background check and volunteer orientation.

Make Breakfast Bags at home!

Decorate and assemble Breakfast Bags for homebound seniors from the comfort of your own home! Each bag is simply a paper lunch bag decorated with quotes, drawings, funny jokes, etc. This is a great activity for children and adults! Breakfast Bag flyer: https://mowmc.org/breakfast-bags/ Assemble the bags by placing 4 of the following food items inside each bag : 1 soft breakfast bar, 1 packet of plain instant oatmeal or grits 1 individually wrapped single instant coffee or tea packets 1 juice box 1 pack of cheese or peanut butter crackers 1 small cup of peanut butter * Each item must be individually packaged and non-perishable.

Make Birthday Bags for local, homebound Seniors

Brighten the Birthday for a local, homebound Meals on Wheels senior by donating Birthday Bags! On a seniors birthday, a Birthday Bag is delivered along with their meal- a special treat for a special day! We celebrate 50 to 60 birthdays every month. Birthday Bags for both males and females are needed. This opportunity allows volunteers to assemble the bags at home and deliver to Meals on Wheels office in Conroe. Volunteers decorate a handled bag with a birthday theme, then fill the bags with a few of the suggested items below: -small toiletries -pill organizer -small flashlights -activity books- LARGE PRINT! -coffee mug with hot cocoa or tea bags -stationary, postage stamps, notepads, pens -small book lights -refrigerator magnets -non-slip socks -eyeglass cleaner or repair kits Please avoid candles, razors, nail polish, anything flammable, and medication of any kind Donations may be dropped off at Meals on Wheels in Conroe located at 111 South 2nd Street. Please note donation hours are Monday- Friday between the hours of 10am and 2pm OR by appointment! Thank you for supporting local seniors!
