Shifts usually take around 1 to 2 hours. and include cleaning litter boxes, feeding cats, wiping out cages with cleaner, changing bedding, and giving cats free time outside their cages. This is a low key opportunity. You can pick up flyers at our main shelter in Morgan Hill to take with you to places you already go. Or email volunteers@towncats.org for a flyer to print. Foster parents provide short and long-term care for cats and kittens in their own homes. By offering your time, love and attention, you prepare your foster kitties for adoption into a permanent, loving home. There are many reasons why a cat or kitten is placed into a foster home. For example, a momma cat and her nursing kittens may need a home environment where they can feel safe and receive proper socialization or a senior cat may need hospice type care in their final days. The most common reasons include: being too young for adoption needing time to recuperate from an illness or injury needing socialization or behavior modification These cats/kittens will be in your care until they are ready to be placed for adoption. This could mean anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Being a foster parent isn't easy but it is incredibly rewarding. If you have room in your home and heart to foster a cat in need, consider being a foster parent. As a foster parent, you will be expected to: provide daily care, feeding and any necessary medications socialize cats/kittens and give them plenty of TLC transport your foster cat to veterinary appointments isolate foster cats/kittens from your own companion animals "Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal."

Town Cats is seeking drivers to transport supplies and/or cats within Santa Clara County. Shifts occur as needed. Duration depends on the pick-up location. But we work with your schedule! Volunteers must be physically able to carry packages/carriers/cats. Must have a valid driver’s license and a car. Town Cats is a non-profit volunteer-based no-kill cat and kitten adoption center/shelter and feral cat advocacy organization dedicated to enriching the lives of homeless cats and kittens in the south Santa Clara county through an aggressive rescue and adoption program, TNR (trap, neuter, return), and public education.
Description
Town Cats works to alleviate the suffering of stray, abandoned, unwanted, and feral cats in Santa Clara County. We sponsor innovative programs to help cats in traditional shelters in our county, as well as community cats who live outdoors. We educate the public about the cat overpopulation problem, and provide people with the tools to become part of the solution. Town Cats supports individuals who want to help through aggressive spay/neuter and cat care programs, and by providing vet care and cat food to low income cat guardians, fosters, or owners. We also find permanent, safe, and loving homes for the homeless house cats and kittens in our care.
