Duties will include but are not limited to: Greeting visitors, recording visitors’ attendance, providing visitor assistance for Philpott Lake, maintaining brochure racks, taking inventory of office supplies, selling USACE and ATB passes, answering the phone and radio when needed, checking mail and sorting it by employee, re-filling paper trays in the copy machine, ensuring the auditorium is in order by reorganizing tables and chairs as required, maintaining a Lost and Found Box and performing any other duties as requested. The primary duty of the Administrative Volunteer is answering questions from the public by phone and in person at the Granger Lake Project Office. The position is required to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, on a rotating schedule with other volunteers Monday thru Friday. The volunteer will be required to provide their own transportation from the campsite that is in Friendship Park to the Project office which is approximately 2 miles apart. Projected mileage per month will vary by area but is projected to be low. This position will report to the volunteer coordinator but may be supervised by other staff members as duties occur. Administrative Volunteers will have set schedules. Contact the project office for specific scheduling. The primary duty of the administrative volunteer is to assist the public with lake questions and lake personnel with basic administrative duties. Volunteers can work Monday through Friday as scheduled with the volunteer coordinator. The volunteer will be required to provide their own transportation as needed. Projected mileage per month will vary by area but is projected to be low. This position will report to the volunteer coordinator but may be supervised by other staff members as duties occur. Jobs may include a wide variety of duties from landscaping, painting, facility repairs, plumbing, electrical, welding, equipment operation and other duties as needed and as skills allow. Beach Safety Watch Duties will include but are not limited to: Walking around the beach area being conscious of any safety issues, reminding people about using life jackets, keeping track of loaner life jackets, passing out safety information pamphlets, giving out Philpott Lake souvenirs, keeping track of parking lot spaces and notifying the gatehouse if needed, and notifying Rangers of disturbances. Hours: Needed until September 30 th for 2024. Work on All Summer Weekends and Holidays, 24 hours/week for single volunteer or 32 hours/week for couples. LePage Park is located at the confluence of the John Day and Columbia Rivers just five miles from Rufus, Oregon, and the John Day Dam. Popular activities include boating, world-class fishing, and swimming. Duties include visitor services and light maintenance of grounds and facilities. LePage Park has 22 RV/Tent sites and 20 walk-in tent sites (weekends only) as well as a day-use area with a swim beach, boat launch and picnic area. Giles French Park is located adjacent to the John Day Dam approximately 6.5 miles from LePage. Duties include litter pick up, some vegetation management (mowing and lopping) and monitoring safety and parking at the boat ramp. 16 hours or two days weekly will be spent at Giles French with the remaining 8 hours or one day spent at LePage. A trailer site with utilities will be provided at LePage Park. Normal temperature range for the month of July is 58° to 91°F though temperatures in the upper 90’s or higher are not uncommon, though generally of short duration.
