Mission Statement
A Safe Place is a multi-faceted organization committed to becoming a model for the prevention of domestic violence through empowerment, counseling, intervention and education, and research and evaluation in collaboration with the community.
Description
A Safe Place is a non profit domestic violence prevention and treatment organization. Our transitional living facility in Zion, IL provides temporary 2 year housing for victims of domestic violence as well as counseling, advocacy, and other programs and services for victims and their children. Our 35-bed emergency shelter located in Waukegan, IL is for victims of domestic violence who are in emergency situations and need shelter immediately. It is a 6 week stay and we also provide comprehensive counseling for victims of domestic violence and their children. A Safe Place also offers advocacy through A Safe Room at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukgegan where we help women get orders of protection. A Safe Place also provides prevention education in schools and with law enforcement personnel; community education; and a 24-hour crisis line. Our family visitation center located in Mundelien, IL offers safe and secure custody exchanges and family visitation for victims of domestic violence and their children.
