Lighthouse of Oakland County exists to provide the support and resources that empower individuals and families to move from crisis to self-sufficiency.

Description

Lighthouse of Oakland County, Inc. began 43 years ago as an ecumenical ministry to help low-income individuals and families in need. It has evolved into an independent non-profit agency providing a full range of human services that move people from poverty and crisis to independence and self-sufficiency. Lighthouse works in collaboration with churches, community organizations, businesses and individuals to provide a continuum of quality programs and services. Lighthouse and its program subsidiaries, Lighthouse Emergency Services, Lighthouse PATH, and Lighthouse Community Development.are volunteer-based organizations.

This is a great organization and I cannot say enough good about it. What they do for the community is wonderful and they are really focused on breaking the cycle of poverty. Volunteering there is also a lot of fun and everyone there is very welcoming and friendly. They do not have a lot of weekend opportunities though so unfortuantly I have not been able to do as much with them as I would like. I would tell anyone who is able to though to look into volunteering here.
