Bereavement Volunteers

Bereavement volunteers are members of the Interdisciplinary Team and are responsible for adhering to all Abbey Hospice policies and procedures. These individuals will support the bereavement program that extends 13 months past a patient's passing. The volunteers will have to come into the office and their primary responsibility will be to make calls to families who are on the bereavement program. They are required to use active listening skills, provide education about resources and make referrals back to the bereavement coordinator as needed.

Pet therapy is a wonderful way to bring joy to patients and families! Often patients in facilities no longer have access to their pets, and having a regular visit by a pet therapist can been a highlight of their week! As a hospice volunteer you will make a difference in people's lives, while heightening you own sense of values and helping you focus on those things that matter most in life.
