The Austin Public Library is looking for volunteers to help re-shelve books and other materials. Volunteers arrange library materials onto sorting carts in alphabetic and numeric order before shelving the materials in the stacks. Volunteers may also dust shelves, shelf read, and help keep reading areas tidy.
This position requires volunteers to push carts up to 75lbs and to bend, stoop, and stretch with or without reasonable accommodations. The position is best suited for those who love to organize. We require a 2 hour weekly commitment for a minimum of three months.
Flexible days/times available and may be found at one of our 23 locations.
Current openings include:
Southeast Branch | 5803 Nuckols Crossing
- Weekday evenings | 5 volunteers needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
Twin Oaks Branch | 1800 S 5th St
- Mondays 11am-6pm| 3 volunteers needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
- Tuesdays 11:30-2:30 or after 4pm| 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
- Wednesdays 12pm-4pm | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
- Thursdays 10am-12pm| 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
- Fridays between 9am and 1pm | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
Manchaca Road Branch | 5500 Manchaca Rd
- Thursday during open hours | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
- Friday during open hours | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
- Saturday during open hours | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
Old Quarry Branch | 7051 Village Center Dr
- Mondays 9:30-11:30am | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
Milwood Branch | 12500 Amherst Dr
- Weekdays 12-9pm |10 volunteers needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
Little Walnut Branch | 835 W Rundburg Ln
- Anytime during open hours | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
Windsor Park Branch | 5833 Westminster Dr
- Wednesday, Friday or Saturdays during open hours | 1 volunteer needed for a weekly 2 hour shift
