Program Description

DREAM POWER is a character and leadership development program designed to empower girls to build bright and bold futures by nurturing positive self-expression and personal development. We offer life-changing experiences and real solutions to the unique issues girls face. Through fun and innovative activities the girls are encouraged to recognize and mobilize their true selves as a means of exerting a positive change in the world around them. The girls will be taught a variety of life skills, learn how to set and achieve goals, boldly confront challenges, resist peer pressure, see college as attainable, participate in team building and community related projects.

We are seeking a female intern for our Girls' Empowerment Program. Empowerment sessions take place every 2nd & 4th Saturdays in South Atlanta.

Internship Description

  • Direct and supervise program activities and volunteers
  • Assist with recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers
  • Establish new programs and expand current programming at iDream and within the community to support strategic objectives
  • Assess community needs and implement programming accordingly
  • Work in cooperation with other interns and Staff to market programs, distribute program information and register program participants
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community leaders and organizations
  • Monitors and evaluate program performance and participation
  • Assists with fund raising activities and special events
  • Assist with day to day operations
  • Must have reliable transportation

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or have a relevant social science-related degree,
  • Detail-oriented with strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects

Time Commitment

  • Must be able to work 10-15 hours per week; days and time are flexible
  • Must be able to commit to one semester
  • Must be available for special events and training
