ORGANIZATION: Plumpton Park Zoological Gardens

Animal Care Internships assist the zoo's keeper staff with basic animal husbandry duties. In addition special projects can be arranged or designed to meet qualifications for school credit. Plumpton Park Zoological Gardens is inviting applications from college or graduate students majoring in animal sciences, biology, zoology, wildlife and fisheries management, psychology for animal care, or related field for internship positions for fall/winter/spring/summer. These internship positions are unpaid for a three month committment. Fall/Winter/Spring internships are 13 hours a week. Summer interships are 20-24 hours a week. Days will be schedule on a first come first serve basis, with availability taken into consideration. Students that participate in this internship program will be exposed to providing daily care and management to zoo animals, animal training and enrichment, diet preparation, monitoring animal behavior, record keeping, pen design and maintenance, observe veterinary care, special events planning, and public interpretation. Over 12 acres of exotic and domestic animals call Plumpton Park Zoo home. Because we are a small nonprofit zoo with a strong desire to do more for the animals in our care, we could use as many volunteers as possible!
